Our story
After taking a long look at the amount of valuable waste generated by ideas of what is disposable anyone can see the need to act.
By taking the readily available collection of beautifully made components in discarded furniture we hope to inspire a new kind of thinking about value and welcome consumers as part of the creative process.
Third Generation Furniture is part of a new industry for refurbishment producing appealingly idiosyncratic furniture for commercial and domestic interiors to fulfil an ever-growing demand. Every element salvaged becomes a potential piece of a puzzle, ending up as valuable functional components and not waste.
Third Generation Furniture is a growing range and serves to offer affordable refurbished furniture with a strong emphasis on re-design and re-use.
We provide a re-designed range of furniture and offer plans for new pieces. We also encourage the re-use of parts in any ideas for reuse in design and publish our members' redesigns.
Our material is sourced locally to increase the re-use of unwanted household items across communities that would otherwise be destined for landfill.

Third Generation Furniture Project will work to produce designs with input from a variety of leading designers and the world wide maker community.
The resulting products will be the target of a job and skill training program, to give discarded furniture and furniture parts a new life.
Third Generation Furniture Project trainees can be anyone in a local community willing to learn skilled trades such as woodworking, carpentry and metal working. The program will support their learning process and in turn they will serve as the labor force to refurbish furniture, as guided by designers and supporting crafts people.
